Residential Services
Residential Services: Supportive & Transitional Housing
A home is more than a place to live. It is a place where people can feel safe, establish routines, develop relationships, and begin planning for the future.
Bethesda House's Residential Services provide permanent supportive housing and transitional housing for individuals experiencing homelessness who face significant barriers to stability and independent living. Our programs recognize that stable housing is a critical foundation for improving health, strengthening independence, and building a more secure future.
Across our residential programs, staff work alongside residents to develop individualized service plans and provide ongoing support tailored to each person's needs and goals. Services may include assistance with healthcare, benefits, employment, education, budgeting, life skills, and connections to community resources. Through collaboration among Residential Services, Case Management, and Clinical Services, residents receive coordinated support to address challenges, maintain housing, and work toward greater stability and independence.
Our Residential Programs
Lighthouse
Lighthouse provides seven HUD-funded supportive housing units for chronically homeless adults, along with three transitional housing units for veterans. The Veterans program operates in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Veterans receive a safe, stable living environment, case management, and access to supportive services as they work toward their individual goals.
Liberty Apartments
Liberty Apartments provides sixteen HUD-funded supportive housing units for eligible chronically homeless adults. Residents have a stable home and access to ongoing case management, clinical support, and other services that help address individual needs and promote housing stability.
The Beacon
The Beacon provides eight HUD-funded scattered-site supportive housing, allowing residents to live in community-based apartments while receiving individualized support from Bethesda House staff. This model promotes housing stability while helping residents strengthen daily living skills, maintain community connections, and work toward greater independence.
Cara House
Cara House provides twenty-six NYS OTDA funded supportive housing units for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and homeless, re-entry individuals who face significant barriers to maintaining independent housing. Residents have access to a stable residential setting and coordinated supportive services designed to address healthcare, personal goals, daily living needs, and long-term housing stability.
Building Stability Beyond Housing
The objective of Residential Services is not simply to provide a place to live. It is to help create the foundation from which individuals can improve their well-being, strengthen their independence, and pursue the future they envision for themselves. By combining stable housing with individualized support and connections to essential services, Bethesda House helps residents work toward lasting stability and a greater sense of belonging in the community.
Bethesda House's residential programs are supported through a combination of funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance programs, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, other public and private funding sources, and generous community support.
